Grief Seminar

Ryan’s Place in partnership with the Goshen College Social Work Program will be hosting this year’s
15th Annual Grief Seminar, “All Life Long: Empowerment Through The Grief Journey”

Please save the date for the 15th annual Grief Seminar on Friday, September 21, 2018.Hosted by Ryan’s Place and the Goshen College Social Work Program, the featured speaker will be Andy McNiel, MA co-founder and Executive Partner of The Satori Group.  Andy has served in leadership throughout his career in a variety of non-profit and bereavement support settings. Andy has provided executive leadership for The National Alliance for Grieving Children, The Amelia Center at Children’s of Alabama, and Treasure Coast Hospice in South Florida. He is the co-author, along with Pamela Gabbay, of Understanding and Supporting Bereaved Children: A Practical Guide for Professionals. He is a trainer for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Seminar: All Life Long: Empowerment through the Grief Journey

Topics will include:

Techniques and approaches to providing grief support across the lifespan

  • Supporting communities after tragedy
  • Types of death and impact on bereavement (opioids/overdose, suicide, gun violence)

Where:  Goshen College
Church-Chapel
1900 S. Main Street, Goshen, Indiana

When: Friday, September 21, 2018
8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Cost: Before September 7: $70 ($35 students and retired professionals).
After Sept. 8: $85 ($40 students).
Ethics CEU session prior to the seminar: $10
Registration fee includes lunch, snacks, resource notebook, access to the vendor fair, and a CEU certificate (Ethics CEU will be separate).

The intended audience for the seminar are social worker’s, marriage and family therapists, school counselors, mental health workers, teachers, school nurses, law enforcement officers, funeral home directors and those who work with children and families. CEU’s are offered to participants.
